Moving Insurance: Know the risks

Do you have the correct moving insurance cover?

As AFRA removalists, we take the uttermost care in handling your possessions. However, accidents can happen. But, it’s important to note you’ll always have our back.

For additional assurance, we’d recommend customers take out insurance to protect against those rare incidents where something does go wrong. It’s better to be prepared ahead of time.

Moving insurance covered by AFRA accredited removalists

Did you know that only removalists from the Australian Furniture Removers Association (AFRA) can offer you moving insurance?

That is because all AFRA accredited removalists have been granted to be Authorised Representatives of a Licensed Insurance Broker.

The passing of the Financial Services Reform Act means that any removalist that offers you any form of insurance that isn’t a member of AFRA is actually against the law.

Knowing the risks

We can assist with arranging moving insurance that is tailored to your needs. This will cover specific household goods or office items that are being moved from one space to another – including storage.

Next time you’re planning a move, be smart when it comes to insurance and go to an authorised AFRA removalist for all your advice.

Take out moving insurance

For moving insurance to be considered legal, what do you need? According to AFRA, “your qualified removalist will be able to offer you a”:

“They will be able to answer any questions you have concerning the insurance of your goods whilst in transit, and between houses.”

Unless these documents have been provided, everything has been filled out correctly, and you received a Certificate of Insurance, then you haven’t been given moving insurance.
